Vulcain Skindiver Chrono Blue

>> [ FIELD_REPORT: THE_COLOURWAY_PREMIUM ]

Target Identification: #VLC-SKC-BLU-001. The Vulcain Skindiver Chronograph Blue is a 100-piece limited edition colourway release within the Skindiver Chrono series — a heritage-correct dive chronograph in a 39.7mm vertically brushed stainless steel case, fitted with a bidirectional ceramic bezel insert and a semi-matt blue sunray dial with silver counters. The watch is powered by the ETA 7753 (C088) automatic chronograph movement, visible through an exhibition caseback. The Skindiver Chronograph series also includes permanently available Black and White variants at lower price points, alongside other 100-piece limited colourway editions including Ice Blue, Green, and Salmon.

Specification Does Not Support the Price Band.
The Skindiver Chronograph Blue is a well-executed piece — the vintage proportions are considered, the ceramic bezel is appropriate to the platform, and the blue sunray dial is genuinely appealing. The bypass is not a quality verdict. It is a calibration decision: at this price point, the archive requires a movement architecture or object specification that the ETA 7753, deployed without modification, does not deliver. The same automatic chronograph ebauche is available across the peer set — Aquastar, Yema, Fratello × Nivada Grenchen — at prices that reflect the architecture accurately. The colourway limited edition structure also places the premium in sharp relief: the permanently available Black and White variants of the same watch sit at materially lower prices with an identical engine. The 100-piece cap is doing work the specification cannot independently sustain.
[ DESIGN_MERIT ]
The Skindiver Chronograph is a disciplined vintage revival. The 39.7mm case, domed sapphire, ceramic bezel, and decimal scale are all well-considered. The exhibition caseback and movement decoration add a presentation layer that earns its place. The blue sunray dial is among the more resolved colourways in the series.
[ ARCHIVE_DECISION ]
Bypassed on Specification-to-Price Misalignment. The price band demands a technical foundation the movement does not provide. Capital is preserved for assets where the specification and the price point are in balance.
